About Priya Vijayan
Priya is a strong believer in self-care and self-compassion. She believes that being kind and understanding towards oneself fosters healing and growth. Priya is passionate about helping individuals discover their inner strengths and enhance their resilience and potential. Priya has over 10 years of experience working with children, youths, adults and families in Singapore. She has worked closely with Singapore systems such as FSC, MSF, schools, hospitals, HDB and the legal systems to advocate for her clients in her course of work. Prior to her counselling work, Priya was an early childhood educator in an international school for 3 years, where she gained experience working with the expatriate community.
Priya's Qualifications
Priya graduated with a Masters in Guidance and Counselling, a Masters in Education from James Cook University, and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Social Work from Singapore University of Social Sciences.
She has additional training in trauma work modalities such as 5-Path and 7-Path Hypnotherapy, Advanced EMDR, Schema Therapy, Expressive Arts therapy and Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. She is also trained in Gottman Levels 1&2, and family therapy.
Priya's Approach
Priya gently guides her clients to navigate their healing and growth journey at their own pace. She strives to provide clients with a compassionate and nurturing environment to identify and attend to their emotions and needs in adaptive meaningful ways.
Priya adopts a strengths-based approach and she assists her clients with a wide range of concerns. In her work with adults, she specialises in relationship issues, marital issues (Gottman Method), trauma, abuse, domestic violence concerns, grief and loss, self-esteem issues, and anxiety and mood disorders. In her work with children, she utilises modalities such as play therapy, sandplay therapy and trauma-focused CBT. Priya is also experienced in her family work, whereby she helps both youths and families work through life and interpersonal challenges.
